Hello, this is me running for the bus to Morningside back in the day, but today - Illustration, Design, animation, and sound design

Overview
This project explored how motion design can transform physical space through projection mapping. Inspired by the hidden subterranean chambers beneath Edinburgh, vast vaulted underground structures often described as “real-life chambers of secrets” (sorry). I set out to investigate how animation could enhance architectural storytelling.
DIAL was a speculative projection installation exploring how environmental data can be translated into immersive visual experience. I developed a full visual identity for the proposed installation and created animated waveforms designed to flood a projected architectural structure. Using scripting within After Effects, I imported historical sea-level data to drive the animation’s amplitude and turbulence. As the data progressed chronologically, the waves became increasingly erratic — visually representing accelerating climate instability.

Learning from Double Take Projections - Light Up Leith projection mural
Promotional video for MOTION RICH
I had a wee behind-the-scenes experience with Double Take Projects on their Light Up Leith projection mural in Edinburgh, which gave me valuable insight into large-scale projection in action. Seeing how the team mapped animation onto real architectural surfaces, carefully considering texture, scale and audience viewpoint, deepened my understanding of the technical and creative decisions involved.
That early hands-on exposure confirmed my interest in projection mapping and the unique challenge of bringing motion design into physical space.
